The John and Sharon Ward, Gotcha Racing High Performance World Dragster has kicked off the season with the AC Delco East Coast Nationals at Western Sydney International Dragway going to the Semi Final’s due to a break out only to back up just two weeks later for the 42nd Australian Nationals, the second largest Australian event for the season at Willowbank Raceway.

The HPW Dragster qualified consistently with ET’s of 7.364 at 182.41mph, 7.387 at 183.45mph, 7.375 at 182.41mph and a 7.473 at 180.94mph, running slightly slower due to a drop in the humidity in qualifying.

First round was up against Nathan “Piranha” Peirano in his Lexus Roadster. John drove Piranha to a break out taking the win with a 7.436 at 171.69mph on a 7.40 dial in.

Second round John was up against many times Australian Champion, Jon Sting in his dragster, John once again forcing Sting to a breakout and taking the win on a 7.412 at 179.14mph on a 7.40 dial in.

It was Semi Finals time and John was up against Chris Loy in his 454 Commodore, Loy took the win as John ran 7.385 at 173.81mph breaking out on a 7.40 dial in due to a decrease of 5 Degrees Celsius in air temperature.

The HPW Dragster was to back up another two weeks later to go and race at Palmyra Dragway in Mackay, North Queensland, but the round was cancelled for the Supercharged Outlaws field.

We also made the front cover of Dragster Australia Magazine for the Sportsman issue covering the Australian Nationals.
